Pirated copies of Zahara's acclaimed debut album Loliwe have flooded the pavements of Johannesburg and are being sold for R5. According to street vendors, the pirated disks are selling extremely well, with buyers unconcerned about the different packaging.

Loliwe, officially distributed by EMI, is one of the biggest selling local albums of this year and has  officially sold over 200 000 copies.

The business of illegally reproducing music albums has reached unprecedented levels, and in July this year well known musician Mzwakhe Mbuli said he would team up with fellow artists to launch an anti-piracy campaign called Shoot the Pirate to try to combat the problem.
